Mistakes

Mistakes….We all make them. The important thing is how we respond once we have made the mistake (so that we do not continue the pattern over and over again). Take athletics for example, if a person is playing in a basketball game, and they turn the ball over at a critical time of the game, they can either dwell on that mistake (and never get past it for the rest of their basketball career), or they can learn from it, keep playing the game and overcome the mistake by making an impact in another way. As Christians, God gives us instructions through His Word on how we should live our lives. It’s important that we have a proper understanding of what He expects of us (and that we are also obedient to Him). By reading (and mediating on) His word we greatly increase our chances of being obedient to God, however even reading the Bible on a regular basis does not ensure that we will never make mistakes. If you commit a sin, be sure that you ask for forgiveness and repent (turn away from the sin). 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” If you have sincerely repented of the sin, then don’t dwell on the sinful act, instead focus on the things of God. Also be sure to make things right if your mistake caused hurt to another individual. We should be careful to guard what we say, and be mindful of the things we do. Be encouraged people!
