Has Fear Stopped You from Moving Forward?

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” - Isaiah 41:10. Today’s blog entry is titled “Has Fear Stopped You from Moving Forward?”

Have you ever had the desire to do something, but decided not to even try it because you feared you would fail? Or maybe you wanted to introduce a new idea at work, but held back fearing that it may be rejected by others in the office. Fear can cause a person to imagine negative scenarios of what could go wrong, instead of focusing on the positive results that can be accomplished by moving forward. This can lead to a lot of missed opportunities.

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” – 1 John 4:18

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. – 2 Timothy 1:7

As Christians, we can take comfort in the fact that we can cast our cares upon Jesus.  If we ever start to have fear about something, we can remind ourselves of how awesome and powerful our God is. It’s important that we don’t allow negative thoughts to overwhelm us. We should renew our mind with the Word of God and focus our thoughts on things that are true and pure (See Philippians 4:8). It’s important for us to remain faithful to the things that God has called us to do, and trust Him regardless of how the circumstances look. We should never let fear stop us from obeying God! So as we continue to grow in our walk with Jesus Christ, let us be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might!

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” - John 14:27
