Am I doing what I'm supposed to be doing?

“Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” –Hebrews 13:20-21 Today’s blog entry is titled “Am I doing what I’m supposed to be doing?”…

Throughout our lives we can be presented with a lot of different opportunities and decisions. Sometimes a person may be steered in a certain direction by family and friends. Or sometimes a person may have their own idea for the path that they would like to take in life; but it’s very important for us to seek God in regards to the decisions that we make. God understands us better than we understand ourselves, and He knows what’s best for us. As human’s it can be easy to try to take control of our lives, but it’s important for us to stay submitted to God, and follow His lead.

“Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” – Matthew 6:10

Picture this, you’re throwing a big event and you hire a caterer to make the food and serve it at the event…On the day of the event the caterer shows up along with their staff, but instead of bringing food with them, they bring a bunch of artwork that each of them painted. The artwork is very well done, and even gets some attention from the some of the guests who are attending the event, however you didn’t hire them to do artwork, you hired them to prepare food. There was a specific reason you wanted them to be there, but they totally disregarded it and decided to do their own thing.  With that being said, it’s important that we don’t just do our own thing in life when God has called us to doing something specific. When we spend time in the Word, and in prayer, we can get insight on what we should be doing with our lives, and fulfill God’s will for our lives. So as we continue to grow in our walk with Jesus Christ, let us remember to make sure that we’re doing things His way.

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.” – Luke 9:23-24
