Give God Your Whole Heart

“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.” – Mark 12:30. Today’s blog entry is titled “Give God Your Whole Heart”…

Have you ever been trying to have a conversation with someone who was focused on something else? For instance maybe you had some important information to share with the person, but instead of looking at you while you’re speaking; they’re looking down at their phone, or looking at the TV. Your response may have been something such as, “Hey I’m trying to tell you something, why aren’t you paying attention?” In some cases the information that you wanted to share may have actually been very beneficial to the person, which is why you really wanted them to hear it.

Life is filled with so many things that can occupy our time and attention, so it’s important that we have our priorities straight always keeping God at #1. It can be easy to be distracted, and if we’re not careful we can find ourselves like the person mentioned in the example above (who wasn’t listening) when it comes to God. It’s important that we don’t become consumed by the things of this world. We should spend time with God on a daily basis. If that means making adjustments to our schedule, then we need to make adjustments to our schedule. And sometimes if a person really takes an inventory on how they’ve been spending their time, they can find that they have had time available to spend with God, but have chosen to spend it doing something else; such as watching TV, spending time on the internet, spending time on the phone, etc.

So as we continue to grow in our walk with Jesus Christ, let us remember to love Him with our whole heart. Let us be sure to make time for Him, and be attentive to the things that He is communicating to us.
