Ready to Serve

“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” – Galatians 5:13. Today’s blog entry is titled “Ready to Serve”…

We live in a society where a lot of emphasis is put on self, and doing what’s convenient; however as Christians it’s important for us to be willing and ready to serve others. First and foremost, we should be submitted to God, and our love for God should cause us to love others. By following the example of Jesus Christ, we can make a positive impact in the lives of those we encounter.

For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many. - Mark 10:45

Serving should be a lifestyle, and there are a number of ways we can serve.  From volunteering at a food giveaway, to picking someone up for Church, there are many ways we can help others. And if we’re searching for new ideas/more ways to serve, we can always spend time in prayer and ask God for guidance in that area. We can also speak to the leadership at our local Church and ask if there is anything else we can do to serve the Church.

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. - 1 Peter 4:10

As Believers we should share the Gospel of Jesus Christ on a regular basis. We shouldn’t allow the fear of how people will respond to stop us from speaking the truth. We also should spend time encouraging our Brothers and Sisters in Christ. The Word of God is powerful and we should take the time to share His Word with others.

Each and every day we have opportunities to serve, and it’s important that we don’t get so caught up in our own lives, that we forget to be a blessing to others. So as we continue to grow in our walk with Jesus Christ, let us be always ready to serve.

“But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.  And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.” – Matthew 23:11-12
