Be Honest With God

“And to the angel of the church in Sardis write, ‘These things says He who has the seven Spirits of God and the seven stars: “I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead.- Revelation 3:1 NKJV….People can say great things about us,  however God  knows whether we are truly living the lifestyle that we portray in front of others. Today’s blog entry is titled “Be Honest With God”…

As Christians, it’s important that we live to please God. We can hide things from other people, but we can’t hide things from God.  If we know there is an issue in our lives that we need to address, it’s important that we do so. Trying to hide/cover up sin, doesn’t change the fact that a person is sinning. This isn’t to say that we will always do everything perfect, however we should be giving our best effort to serve God. What good would it do for a person to be viewed by others as someone who is living for Christ, if that really isn’t the case? If a person knows they have secret sin in their life, they shouldn’t ignore it, they should repent.

“and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” – 2 Corinthians 5:15 (NKJV)

It’s important for us to take a look at our lives and see if we’re living for ourselves or if we’re living for Jesus. As followers of Christ, we should always put His desires ahead of our own. We should be thankful that He willingly laid down His life for us. By renewing our minds with the Word of God, we can keep things in their proper perspective.

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)

“For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.” – Hebrews 2:18 (NKJV)

“For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” – Hebrews 4:15 (NKJV)

God loves each and every one of us. He provides us with grace and allows us to repent of our sin. If a person is dealing with a certain sin, they should ask God for help in that area. By acknowledging the sin, and going to God about it, they can overcome the sin, and continue making progress in their walk with Christ. So as we continue to grow in our Christian walk, let us make sure that we are being honest with God.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” - 1 John 1:9 (NKJV)
