Be Led By Jesus

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” – 1 John 4:1. A Christian should not follow horoscopes, and I explain why in today’s blog entry, “Be Led By Jesus”.

One definition of the word Horoscope (via TheFreeDictionary.com) reads as follows “An astrological forecast, as of a person's future, based on a diagram of the aspect of the planets and stars at a given moment.”

Horoscopes are widely accepted in today’s culture; however they are in direct violation of God’s Word. A person should not allow stars/planets in the sky to give them spiritual guidance.

“Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.” - Isaiah 47:13-14

“Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.” – Leviticus 19:31

“So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it; And enquired not of the LORD: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.” - 1 Chronicles 10:13-14

God wants us to seek Him, and be led by Him. When a person consults a physic, horoscope, etc…they are using that source for guidance. This is a form of idolatry/witchcraft. We should never allow anything to take the place of God’s guidance. As it says in Proverbs 10:24, “Man's goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?” We shouldn’t use methods that God never intended for us to use, in order to try to figure out things about our life.

If you regularly read horoscopes you may be thinking to yourself “Whoa, witchcraft, I’m not into witchcraft or anything like that.” It’s important to realize that the devil is a deceiver, and he presents things that are very harmful, as being harmless fun. Don’t fall for his tricks.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” – Hosea 4:6

The enemy wants to control the way we think, he wants to have influence over us, and we shouldn’t give him any entry points. That includes horoscopes, as well as TV shows, Movies, Music, Books, etc that present messages that are Anti-Christian. There is a spiritual battle going on….as it says in Ephesians 6:12-13, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

If you have been following horoscopes, I admonish you stop. This is very serious. I also recommend that you let your family and friends know about the importance of being led by God (and not horoscopes).

As we continue to grow in our walk with Christ, let us be led by Him, and remain faithful to the things we have been called to do.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
– Romans 12:2
