Be Persistent

Things may not be happening as quickly as you want them to, but don’t allow that to get you off the path that God has set you on. “The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.” –Lamentations 3:25 …. Today’s blog entry deals with being persistent.

Have you ever watched a child during the process of learning to ride a bike? If so, have you ever seen a child that has never rode a bike before, jump on a bike and immediately ride off at full speed….Probably not. Riding a bike tends to be a process. Some people may learn how to do it at different paces, but there is generally some type of learning period. A child can be very eager to ride a bike and have good intentions, however if they try to rush the learning process, it could result in injury. On the other hand, if they have some difficulty during the learning process, and decide to totally give up on learning how to ride the bike, they could actually be quitting something have the ability to do.

One thing that a person who wants to ride a bike successfully needs to do is have proper balance. In our Christian walk, it’s also important that we have proper balance. When God is allowing us to grow through a learning process, we should be trying to learn as much as we can learn. We shouldn’t complain, we shouldn’t rush the process. We also shouldn’t allow ourselves to quit if things aren’t happening as quickly as we expect them to. For instance, picture someone who grows up wanting to be a medical doctor, and by the time they reach the ninth grade, they get frustrated with the school work they’re doing, and want to immediately move on to medical school. By skipping over their other classes, and trying to jump right into medical school, they would obviously be missing out on a lot of valuable information (and requirements) that would help prepared them to become a doctor. On the other hand if they keep working hard and complete the entire process they can achieve their desired result of becoming a doctor.

“But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.” – Romans 8:25

As Christians, we should keep our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We should work hard to complete every assignment that He has given us. If we’re having a challenge in a certain area, we should renew our minds with the Word of God. Remaining obedient to God is essential. Never let a fit of emotion to cause you to make a bad decision. Stay motivated. Keep praising God even if challenges come your way. Be determined to please God. Be a faithful servant. And when it is time to move forward…then step out and move forward, don’t allow fear to hold you back. Be strong, and rely upon Jesus to lead and guide you.

“I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear and shall trust in the Lord. Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.” Psalm 40:1-4
