Be Strong and of Good Courage

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”- Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV. Today’s blog entry is titled “Be Strong and of Good Courage”…

As Christians we can take comfort in the fact that God will never leave us nor forsake us. There may be times in life when we encounter things that take us out of our comfort zone, but it’s very important that we continue to rely upon God to give us the strength to overcome whatever we’re up against. There are many people who don’t want to hear about God and even try to spread lies about Him; however this should not stop us from sharing the Gospel and being bold for Christ.

“The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.” – Proverbs 29:25 NKJV

When a person basis their life off of what people think, instead of basing it off of God’s Word, it can lead to a lot of problems. We should never allow someone to cause us to compromise the truth of God’s Word (Whether they’re inside or outside of the church. Sometimes people who profess to be Christians can try to steer Christians away from talking about certain things in the Bible). Think about a job situation. If you have a worker who says his/her focus is to please management, what good would it do for the worker to do a bunch of things that pleased his/her co-workers yet displeased all of the management team? At the end of the day, it’s the management’s opinion that really matters. Likewise what good would it be for us to do a bunch of things that please other people and yet displease God? At the end of the day it’s what God thinks that really counts.

“You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!” – James 2:19 NKJV

As Christians, we serve a God that makes demons tremble, so we should not be afraid of them (or anything else). However we should be aware that we have opposition out there and make sure that we continue to put on the whole armor of God everyday….every single day (See Ephesians 6:10-20 ). When we put our trust in God’s strength instead of our own strength we can have the confidence to overcome any obstacle we face, speak the truth boldly regardless of what others think, and accomplish any task that God has given us. So my brothers and sisters in Christ, “…be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might”.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. – 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV
