Don't Be Weary In Well Doing

Have you ever been at a point in your life where you've been working hard on an assignment that God has given you, yet it seems like you aren't making much progress? “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” - Galatians 6:9...Today's blog entry deals with not being weary in well doing.

Throughout our Christian walk we may encounter challenges in our lives that are hard to understand (This can happen even when a person is focusing on God, praying, fasting, reading the Bible on a regular basis, etc). There are examples of a number of people in the Bible that had to endure challenges in order to carry out God's will for their lives. Jesus is the ultimate example of this. He lived a life without sin and yet He was crucified so that we could receive salvation. Jesus did not quit at any point during the process. When He was being arrested He didn't try to run. When He was beaten prior to being taken to the cross, He didn't try to fight back. He endured the entire process. In our Christian walk it's important that we endure the entire process no matter hard it may seem. Don't let fear, frustration, impatience or anything else stop you from being obedient. “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. - John 14:1.

“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” - James 1:12

When we are dealing with challenges in our lives, temptations may come our way to try to get us off track. Don't give in to them. Remember to resist the devil (See James 4:7). Don't open up the door to the enemy in any area of your life. Be mindful of the places you go, and of the things you watch and listen to.

It's also important that we don't try to force something a head of God's timing. Think about the story of Abraham. God promised him (Abram at the time) a son (See Genesis 15:1-6). Abraham's wife Sarah (Sarai) had not be able to have children, and she later recommended that Abraham have a child with her maidservant Hagar (see Genesis 16:1-4). Hagar went on to have a son named Ishmael, however it says in Genesis 17:21 “But My convenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this set time next year.” God intended for Abraham to have a child (Issac) with Sarah, and Issac was eventually born in God's timing (see Genesis 21:1-3). It's important for us to wait on the Lord.

So as we live our lives, let us remain faithful to every task that God has given us. Stay encouraged. Keep praising God. Don't give up!

“For we walk by faith, not by sight:”- 2 Corinthians 5:7
