Don't Believe The Enemy's Lies

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” - 2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV).  Today’s blog entry is titled “Don’t Believe The Enemy’s Lies”…

The Bible lets us know that the devil is the father of lies (See John 8:44). He has used deception many times to lead people astray. One well known example of this is found in Genesis Chapter 3 (Adam and Eve). Eve was deceived by the serpent. She ate of the fruit, and Adam followed along and ate of it too. Instead of obeying God, they allowed the serpent to influence them, and there were huge consequences for doing so. As Christians, it’s important that we know who we are in Jesus Christ, and that we don’t allow the enemy to deceive us into disobeying God.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” - Hosea 4:6 (KJV)

Imagine this, you have a person that has never seen a pickup truck before (I’ll refer to this person as Person A), and has no idea what a pickup truck is. There’s another individual (Person B) who knows that Person A doesn’t know what a pickup truck is, and so Person B begins lying and showing pictures (of something that’s not a pickup truck, but passing it off as such) to Person A. If you were on the outside looking in, you would probably be thinking to yourself “What! That’s not a pickup truck. You may even decide to step in and say something at some point. When we have knowledge that something isn’t true, it makes it a lot easier for us to dismiss it and explain why it’s not true. That’s why it’s important for us as Christians to spend time in the Word so that we understand the Truth, and aren’t led astray by trends in society that don’t line up with the Word of God.

“And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.” - 2 Corinthians 11:14 (NKJV)

Spending time alone with God is extremely important. When we read the Word on a regular basis and spend time with God, He can give us insight on many things that are happening in the world; and in our personal lives as well. We should never allow ourselves to get “too busy” to make time for God. God loves us and He’s here to guide us down that path that we should be on. Remember we have an enemy. And while we should not be afraid of the enemy, we should be aware of his tactics, and deception is a big part of what he does. So as we continue to grow in our walk with Jesus Christ, let us continually renew our minds with the Word of God, and spend time with Him on a regular basis.
