Don't Give Up. Overcome the Challenges

When you face a challenge in your life how do you handle it? Do you run from it? Or do you overcome it? “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;” – Romans 12:12. Today’s blog entry is titled “Don’t Give Up. Overcome the Challenges”.

Picture this…You’re watching your favorite basketball team play. The team they are playing against comes out strong. And ten minutes into the game, they have a 14 point lead over your favorite team. As a result of this, your favorite team collectively runs off the court, and into the locker room forfeiting the game because they thought there was no way they could win…As a fan you would probably be thinking to yourself, are you guys serious?! You’re quitting before the game is even over!!!

“Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;” - Colossians 1:11

In our lives it’s important that we remain faithful to what God has called us to do, even if things get challenging. We shouldn’t run away from our assignment if things get tough, we should seek God for help on how we can overcome the challenge. For instance, in the basketball analogy above, maybe the reason the team got behind by 14 was because they were using the wrong defensive strategy for the team they were playing against. A simple change in the type of defense they were playing could have led to a turnaround in the game, and them eventually taking the lead. Likewise in our lives, sometimes, it can be something simple that needs to be changed in order for a person to start seeing fruit in a certain area of their life. By spending time in prayer and reading the Word of God, we can gain insight on the changes that we need to make in our lives.

“But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” - James 1:4

It’s also important that we maintain our focus on what our mission is as Christians. We should be making disciples, and carrying out the specific assignments God gives us. We shouldn’t allow ourselves to get side tracked with vain things. We should look at the eternal value of the things that we invest a lot of time into. So as we continue to grow in our walk with Jesus Christ, let us run this race strong, and endure any challenges that may come our way.

“Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” - James 1:12
