Don't Stop Now

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. – Galatians 6:9… It’s important that we remain consistent in our Christian walk, and continue to move forward regardless of how we feel. Today’s blog entry is titled “Don’t Stop Now”….

As I’ve mentioned in the past, I used to run Cross Country. And running is one of those things that has both a physical and mental element (as do other sports). By physical, I mean that the person needs to be physically fit and in shape to run. And by mental, I mean the person needs to be able to push him/herself to keep going even if they start to feel tired. Cross country practices could definitely be challenging at times, however those tough practices helped condition us and prepare us for the meets we would be running in. The types of courses we ran on could vary from race to race. For example, during one meet you may run on a course that was relatively flat (meaning there wasn’t much of an incline, so you weren’t running uphill much/at all), and during another meet you may run on a course that was more “hilly” (where there was an incline), and this presented a different type of challenge. The important thing as a runner was to stay focused, pace yourself, run hard, and (obviously) complete the race. Likewise as Christians, it’s important for us to keep running the race, regardless of how challenging the course feels.

“But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” – Acts 20:24

If you ever come to a point where you feel like you’ve hit a mental “wall” as a Christian, don’t let that cause you to stop running. Don’t focus on the challenge you’re facing, focus on how awesome Jesus is. Renew your mind with scripture, and keep a positive attitude. Remember it’s important that we put what we learn from the Bible into practice. It’s not just enough to know the Word, we need to live it out as well.

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:14
