Glorify God in Your Body

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.”  - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. It’s important to make sure that we are truly submitted to God. Today’s blog entry is titled, “Glorify God in Your Body”.

If it were possible for details of a typical day in your life (when you’re around Christians and non-Christians) to be broadcast at your church, do you think it would be a good reflection of the way a Christian should act? Would there be a big difference in how you act around Christians versus how you act around Non-Christians (in terms of the subject manner you talk about, and activities you take part in)?

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.” – Proverbs 15:3

As Christians, it’s important for us to take a look at our lives, and make sure that we are glorifying God. This isn’t to say that we are perfect; and this isn’t to say that we won’t make mistakes. However, it’s important for us to give our best effort when serving God, and be honest with ourselves when we see areas in our lives that we need to change. There are details of a person’s life that can be hidden from other people; however nothing can be hidden from God.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”- Psalm 119:105

I want to make it clear that I’m not against having fun. As a matter of fact, if you’ve ever seen my show “About 10 Minutes”, you may have noticed that I can be quite silly. With that being said, it’s important to make sure that the fun we have doesn’t include things that are sinful. We should use the Word of God as the guide for how to conduct ourselves instead of just following the trends of our peers/society.

“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” – Philippians 4:8

It’s important for us to be mindful of the things that we take in, as they can either have a positive or negative effect on us. If we’re constantly watching/listening to things that glorify sinful behavior, we can start to become desensitized to those sinful things. However, when we meditate on the Word of God, we can stay focused on conducting ourselves in a way that honors God.

It’s also important for us to be mindful of the things we eat. This is something that can sometimes be over looked, but the foods we eat can have an impact on the way we function and feel throughout the course of a day. I’m not going to go into much detail on food and nutrition on this post, however there are various resources that a person can consult that go into more detail in regards to various meal options, food preparation, etc.

So as we continue to grow in our walk with Christ, let us remember that we should be glorifying Him every day of our lives.

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:31
