It May Not Happen The Way You Think

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;”- Proverbs 3:5 (NKJV). Sometimes things may happen in different ways than we expect them to, so it’s important that we continue to trust Jesus even if we encounter things that we don’t understand. Today’s blog entry is titled “It May Not Happen The Way You Think”…

Have you ever been watching a sporting event/game where the team you were rooting for (player or coach) made a decision that you totally disagreed with at the time. However as things played out, you saw that the decision actually produced good results. For instance, maybe it’s near the end of a football game, and your team is behind by 3 points. It’s 4th down, and your team is in field goal range, however instead of kicking the field goal to tie the game, the coach runs a pass play towards the end zone to try to win the game. You think to yourself “What are they doing, they should try to tie the game and go to overtime!!!” However, the play ends up being successful. They score a Touchdown, and win the game (without going to overtime). You go from being frustrated to being very excited.

Sometimes things in our lives may play out differently than we envisioned them, but we shouldn’t allow this to frustrate us. Frustration can lead to making bad decisions, and making bad decisions can a cause a person to produce results that they will regret later….So what should we do if we feel uneasy about something that is going on in our lives? We should pray/spend time with God….  “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.” –Isaiah 26:3. When we remind ourselves that we serve the One who created us, it can help put things in the proper perspective. God created us, so He definitely knows how to take care of us.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)

Faith is an extremely important part of the Christian walk.  We should not allow ourselves to get caught up in circumstances, but we instead should focus on obeying God. When we obey God, we put ourselves in position to fulfill what He has called us to do. Remember to view the things that happen in life from an eternal perspective (Think beyond this present life). Certain things that may not make sense to you now, will make a whole lot of sense in the future. So as we continue to grow in our Christian walk, let us remember to keep following God’s plan, even if we encounter things that we don’t understand.

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)
