Keep Growing

Do you want to take your walk with Christ to a higher level? “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:14. We should continually strive to be more like Jesus every day of our lives. Today’s blog entry is titled “Keep Growing”.

When we’re living our lives, it can be easy to get into a routine that we are comfortable with. And while it’s good to be consistent and have a plan, it’s also important that we continue to advance and grow. For example when a person first starts lifting weights, they may start off with a lighter weight, but as time goes on (in the weeks and months ahead), a person will generally increase the overall amount of weight they use during their workouts because they have gotten stronger, and want to continue to build upon that strength. Likewise as Christians, it’s important that we have the desire to keep advancing in our walk with Jesus Christ. There may be times when advancing in your Christian walk may be uncomfortable…..God may allow you to experience some things that are challenging…..But don’t get discouraged during times like that, continue to stay close to God during those times as well.

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” – Psalm 16:11

Spending time in God’s presence is essential. When we try to take things into our own hands, life can feel overwhelming; however when we cast our cares on Jesus, and trust in Him, it can take the pressure off of ourselves and help us focus on how awesome Jesus is. As you continue to grow, realize that God maybe allowing you to experience certain things in order to help you become stronger, and mature overall as a person. Don’t allow yourself to get frustrated when difficult things happen, and don’t get mad at God. Continue to seek God, read His Word, and ask Him for guidance so that you can stay on the path he has you on. When you are making progress in your walk, don’t be surprised if the enemy tries to throw all kinds of roadblocks, distractions, and temptations in your path. The important thing is to stay focused on Jesus, and resist the devil. Remember…. "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD." – Isaiah 54:17.

God loves you! You are you unique and you have been blessed with various abilities. Use those abilities to carry out the assignments that God has given you (and bring Him glory). Don’t let the world define who you are, let the Word of God define who you are. Stay faithful to God….. And if you experience some difficult times, be strong and endure the process that He is allowing you to go through in. Keep building, keep growing.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” – Philippians 4:13
