Live A Lifestyle Of Praise To God

Praise the Lord; for the Lord is good: sing praises unto his name; for it is pleasant. - Psalm 135:3…Regardless of the challenges or obstacles we face, we all have a reason (many reasons) to praise God. Never allow the enemy to cause you to give up hope. God Almighty is strong and powerful! God is in control. This week’s blog entry deals with living a lifestyle of praise to God.

One way to define the word praise, is to approve or admire.

Can you think of a time when you witnessed emotion driven praise for something that happened in everyday life? For example during a sports game, when a team makes a good play, fans of that team may get excited, and show their excitement by cheering and yelling things such as “wow, that was an amazing play”. As Christians, we have a lot more to be excited about than an athletic event. We have received salvation through Jesus Christ. We serve a great God that loves us very much. We should praise God because of who He is. We should thank God for the things that He has done. We should trust God even if things are happening that we don’t understand.

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. - Proverbs 3:5-6

A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps. - Proverbs 16:9

You may be thinking to yourself, “I really love God, but sometimes things can get difficult to the point where I just don’t feel like praising God at the time.” It’s important to remember that we should not allow how we feel to stop us from praising God. If we’re feeling discouraged, we should go to the Word of God. We shouldn’t allow negative thoughts to break our focus. For example, if a wide receiver drops a pass during a football game, they shouldn’t allow it to dominate their thoughts. Instead they should refocus, and get ready because the quarterback may very well throw them the ball again during the next play. When we are praising God, the focus should be on Him, and not on ourselves.

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. - Philippians 4:8

As we continue to grow in our relationship with Jesus, Let us continually praise Him. Let us strive to be more like Him. Let us remember to stand on the Word of God regardless of situation we’re dealing with.

Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord. – Psalm 150:6
