Living To Please God

“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” – Hebrews 11:6….Today’s blog entry deals with Living To Please God.

In today’s society there can be a lot of emphasis placed on status, and how a person is perceived by others. If a person is not careful, this can lead to them making bad choices in the hopes of fitting in with others and gaining their approval. As Christians, we should always remember that we are here to please God. We should never value anyone’s opinion more than we value God’s Word. We should uphold a standard of righteousness even if the people around us don’t like it. By this I don’t mean that we should go around acting like we’re better than everyone else, but rather that we should obey God’s Word, and always be striving to grow in our relationship with Jesus. Be bold and courageous; do not be afraid of people or what people will think about your walk with Christ.

“Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”- Mark 8:38

I understand that when a person is living for Christ they may experience ridicule, and/or be excluded from certain groups (in work settings, school settings, etc), and while that can definitely be hard, it’s not the end of the world. If you are ever feeling rejected, remember that Jesus loves you. I think it’s also important to remember that Jesus went through, pain, suffering, humiliation, and death for us. And with that being said, we should be able to endure things such as criticism from other people. We should also remember the importance of spending time around other Christians. Sometimes when we’re isolated from others we may start to think things such as, “There’s nobody else my age living this Christian lifestyle”. However, there are a lot of people living for Christ. When you connect with other likeminded Christians, it can serve as a form of encouragement, seeing that there are others who are committed to Jesus.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1

We should have faith in God at all times. If you’re going through a difficult situation in your life, don’t give up, continue to trust in God, and seek Him for how you should proceed. Remind yourself of all the wonderful things that He’s already done for you. And remember to stay on the path that God has you on, don’t try to take shortcuts. It’s important that we do things in His timing, instead of trying to do them when we feel we’re ready. Let us live each day of our lives, with the desire to please God.

“A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight. When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.” – Proverbs 11:1-3
