Make The Most Of The Opportunities God Gives You

"His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things:"- Matthew 25:23. Today's blog entry deals with making the most of the opportunities God blesses you with.

As we live our lives it's important that we don't overlook the opportunities God has given us. Sometimes an opportunity can be easy to identify, while at others an opportunity can be easy to overlook. For example, one thought that may tend to cross the minds of some born again Christians who work full time jobs (that are non-ministry related jobs) is "I'm thankful to have a job, but I really wish I could do full time ministry." The person may even be praying for God to allow them to work in ministry full time. The important thing to remember in a scenario like this is that ministry can also be done outside of a church setting. There are many people who don't go to church, and one reason the person (seeking to be in full time ministry) is at their current job could be because God specifically wants them there to witness to their co-workers.

"But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." - Luke 12:48

It's good to have goals, and make progress, but we should also be thankful for what we have already been blessed with and understand that growth is a process. Sometimes, we may have the desire to progress at a faster pace than we've been moving at, but it's important that we learn all the things we need to learn at the current stage, so that we can be more effective at the next stage. Think back to when you were a child in school. When you learned different subjects, it was most likely done in a systematic type of way. For example, before you started learning how to read, it was important for you to understand the alphabet. Before you started doing complex math problems, it was important to have an understanding of how to add and subtract.

It's important for us to be faithful over every assignment that God has given us. We may want to move on to other things that we feel are more important (or that we have more interest in), but if God has entrusted us with something, we should be grateful, and give our best effort. So as we continue to grow in our walk with Christ, let us make an effort to make the most of every opportunity that God gives us.

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”- 1 Corinthians 15:58
