Make Time For Prayer

It’s Christmas Eve and many people have been thinking about the birth of Jesus. There are many things from the life of Jesus that we can talk about, and today I would like to focus on prayer. Prayer is very important to Jesus. While He was on the earth He spent a lot of time in prayer. “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” – Mark 1:35...Today’s blog entry is titled “Make Time For Prayer”…

It’s a blessing that we have access to communicate with God on a regular basis. This is not something we should take lightly; we should make our time with God a priority. When we pray and seek God on a regular basis, we can continue to strengthen our relationship with Him. We can also make the right decisions and stay on the path that He wants us to be on.

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” – James 5:16

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9

As Christians we should be praying for our brothers and sisters in Christ (we should also pray for unbelievers). God answers prayer, and it’s important that we keep our faith in Him regardless of how the circumstances look. Sometimes we may have a tendency to want to try to make things happen in our own power. However we should seek God, and rely upon Him to direct us. As it says in Zechariah 4:6, “Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.” If we want to carry out God’s will for our lives we should rely upon Him instead of relying on ourselves. Now don’t get me wrong, we have a part to play. We need to obey God and do what He says. With that being said, we also need to realize that it’s God who blesses us with gifts/abilities, and He knows better than we do how we should use them.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

As Christians, prayer should be a way of life for us. A person shouldn’t wait until a time of crisis to pray (I’m not saying that it’s wrong to pray during a time of crisis, but my point is that it shouldn’t be the only time a person prays), prayer should be an ongoing thing. During our prayer time we should reverence God and give Him thanks. When we think about how awesome God is, it can help us keep things in the proper perspective. When we reflect on the awesome things that God has done for us, it can serve as a reminder of the many times God has been there for us in times past. So as we continue to grow in our walk with Jesus Christ, let us follow His example, and make time for prayer.

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” - Ephesians 6:18
