Overcoming Barriers and Negativity

Have you ever had people in the world do/say really mean things to you? If the answer is yes, don’t feel bad, you’re in good company. “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.”- John 15:18. Today’s blog deals with overcoming barriers and negativity.

Many Christians who have truly been taking a stand publicly to live for Christ have under gone some type of ridicule. Sometimes it may be something such as someone cracking a joke, sometimes it can be something such has a group of people trying to sabotage things being done by a Christian. The Bible let’s us know that Christians will have opposition, however God will help us through the challenges we face. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all”. - Psalms 34:19.

There may be someone reading this that has really been going through some challenging times. You may feel like everyone has forgotten about you. I want you to know that God has not forgotten about you. He created you for a specific reason, and He loves you very much. The important thing to remember during challenging times (and other times as well), is that we should rely on what the Word of God says instead of relying on how we feel. Satan is the enemy of our Soul, and He often uses deception (by trying to influence how we feel) as a way to get people in the wrong state of mind, and out of the will of God. With this in mind we should always allow God’s Word to override our feelings.

This Christian walk is a battle, however God has equipped with the tools we need to accomplish the assignments He has given us. Ephesians chapter 6 deals with putting on the whole armor of God (I admonish you to read/mediate on this chapter when you get the opportunity). It is so important that we put on the whole armor of God on a continual bases. Sometimes, as Christians we can get going with a lot of zeal and energy for a while, and then over time start slacking when it comes to putting on parts of the armor of God (I have been guilty of this). This is very dangerous because if we don’t have on certain parts of the armor we leave ourselves vulnerable for attack in certain areas. For example think about the way a Knight’s armor is (yes I mean a Knight like the ones that ride upon horses and what not). Every piece of the armor has a specific purpose, and area that it is protecting. If the Knight decides to go into battle one day without the armor, he leaves himself exposed, which could lead to devastating injuries (or worse).

As we continue to grow in Christ, it important to remember to properly use the tools that He has given us. Stand strong in Christ my brothers and sisters!
