Overcoming Insecurity

Insecurity can cause a lot of problems in a person’s life. As Christians it’s important that we are secure in Jesus Christ.  “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;  and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV). Today’s blog entry is titled “Overcoming Insecurity”.

Insecurity can be an issue that is easy for a person to overlook in his/her own life. However if insecurity is not identified and dealt with, it can lead to many conflicts in a person’s life that otherwise could have been avoided. Insecurity can cause a person to have an inaccurate perception of the way things are really happening. Insecurity can also cause a person compromise the truth of God to try to fit in with other people. However, the good news is that insecurity (just like any other issue we may face) can be overcome through Jesus Christ.

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:6-7 (NKJV)

If a person is dealing with insecurity, it’s important to be honest with God about it, and ask Him for help and guidance with the situation. Ignoring the issue, or trying to cover it up, doesn’t change the fact that it’s still there. However, when a person takes the issue to Jesus, that person can truly be delivered.

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all. – Psalm 34:17-19 (NKJV)

When we are secure in Jesus Christ we don’t have to depend on other people to validate us. We can take comfort in the fact that we’re obeying Him, and He’s pleased with us. So as we continue to grow in our Christian walk, let’s remember to be secure in Jesus Christ!

“Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,  in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,  in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” – Ephesians 2:19-22 (NKJV)
