Play Your Position

“His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” - Matthew 25:23. It’s important that we are faithful over the assignments that God has given us. We shouldn’t try to rush into anything prematurely. Today’s blog entry is titled “Play Your Position”.

When I attended college, I was an Entrepreneurship major, so a lot of my course work focused on business related things. I also had an interest in Broadcasting, so I spent time around broadcasting students and got the opportunity to learn some things from them. One student that I met at a Bible Study (who would become a good friend of mine) was a Broadcasting major, and she allowed me to Co-Host a radio show with her on the campus radio station. This was a good opportunity as it allowed me to gain some experience talking within a show format, and learn some others things. This same student was also involved in a video recording that was in a TV show format . There were other students involved, and I got the opportunity to observe some things. And I even got to be the person who pressed the record button…haha….And while pressing record wasn’t the most technical thing to do; one of the other guys involved who was a broadcasting student mentioned that it was important. And I definitely understood where he was coming from because things could be great with the lighting, cameras, etc. but if it wasn’t recorded then they wouldn’t have a finished product to present.

For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth. – Zechariah 4:10

After graduating college, I spent more time learning about audio/video production. I’ve mixed a number of songs, and I currently produce a weekly web show. As I reflect on what God has done in my life, I see the importance of playing the position He gives you (regardless of how big or small you feel your role is). Sometimes God could be using something you’re going through now, to prepare you for something you’ll be doing later. The important thing is that we are faithful to what God has called us to do, and remain humble throughout the entire process. So as we continue to grow in our walk with Jesus Christ, let us remember to play our position.

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” – James 4:10 (NKJV)
