Seek God's Face

It’s important that we truly have a desire to spend time with God on a regular basis. We shouldn’t have a mindset to only approach God when we’re in need of something, or are in some type of trouble… When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”- Psalm 27:8 (NKJV) Today’s blog entry is titled “Seek God’s Face”…

Do you have someone in your life that you only hear from when they need something? This could even be someone that you care a lot about and don’t mind helping out, and yet at the same time you would rather hear from them on a regular basis instead of only hearing from them when they need something. As Christians it’s important that we keep our priorities straight, always keeping God first. When we spend time with God, it should be genuine fellowship, not just spending time with Him in the hopes of Him giving us something. And don’t get me wrong, there is a place for asking God for things (This can be known as supplication). As it says in Philippians 4:6, “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” While we definitely can ask God for things, it’s important that our communication with God isn’t solely spent asking Him for things.

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”  – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

When we spend time with God, some of that time should be spent giving Him thanks. It can be easy to focus on what we don’t have, but when we reflect on what God has blessed us with, it can help put things in their proper perspective. We all have a lot to be thankful for, and we should live a lifestyle of gratitude to God.

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.” – John 4:24

Worshipping God is a lifestyle. It’s more than just singing songs. We should conduct ourselves in a way that gives God glory each day of our lives. “O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.” – Psalm 34:3. When we spend time alone with God, we should tell Him how much He means to us. We should praise Him not only for what He does for us, but also because of who He is.

It’s important that we spend quality time with God, and truly value having Him in our lives. So as we continue to grow in our Christian walk, let us continually seek God’s face.

“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” - Jeremiah 29:13
