Seek The Lord For Wisdom

Have you ever made a decision based on how you felt at the time (going off of your emotions) only to later realize that it was the wrong decision? “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” – James 1:5. Today’s blog entry is titled “Seek The Lord For Wisdom”.

As humans, we can have a tendency to want to be in control, or to live our lives according to how we feel. However it’s important to remember that God is in control, and we need to obey Him, submitting to His will. Things may not always make sense at the time, but we still need to continue to walk by faith regardless of how things look. It’s important that we spend time with God on a regular basis (reading the Word, praying), never allow yourself to get “too busy” for God.

In our lives, timing is very important. For instance, if you’re cooking something, and you don’t allow enough time for it to cook, you likely aren’t going to be satisfied with the results (same thing if you over cook something). Even if a person is very hungry they should wait for the food to cook instead of rushing the process because it will produce much better results in the end. On the flip side, a person should also continue to monitor the food (even if they aren’t that hungry at the time), to make sure they don’t overcook it. Likewise in our lives it’s important that we don’t try to rush something that will take some time to complete. We also shouldn’t become so distracted that we put off something that needs to be taken care of. Both scenarios can lead to a person missing out on an opportunity.

“And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.” – Job 28:28

If we notice that we have disobeyed God/done something out of His timing, we need to repent, and get back on the path that He wants us to be on. We need to endure the process. Be very careful of what you watch (and read), and what/who you listen to. Sometimes the advice that public figures give on TV (or in their books) can be contrary to God’s Word. And sometimes even loved ones who mean well can give you advice that is out of line with God’s will for your life. That’s why it’s so important that we seek God for ourselves, and follow His plan for our lives.

As we continue to grow in our walk with Christ, let us make sure that we seek the Lord for wisdom when we’re making decisions.

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” – Proverbs 4:7
