Stand Strong

“But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” – 1 Peter 1:25 …Don’t allow difficult situations to cause you to lose faith. Continue to stand on the Word of God. Today’s blog entry deals with Standing Strong.

“Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” – Ephesians 6:11

Have you ever been going through a difficult situation, that you had absolutely no idea how you would make it out of? If we ever find ourselves in a situation like that, we shouldn’t allow ourselves to panic. We should, however remind ourselves of what the word of God says. We can take comfort in the fact that God will never leave us nor forsake us (see Hebrews 13:5). If you find yourself in a challenging situation, don’t allow it to take your focus off of Jesus. As Christians, we should be praising the Lord on a regular basis. We should truly be thankful that we have received the gift of salvation. We should believe what the Word says, and obey what the Word says.

If we have made a mistake(s) that caused us to be in a challenging situation, we should be honest about it, learn from it, and avoid making the same mistake(s) in the future. “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” - 1 Peter 5:8. We shouldn’t open the doors of our lives to the devil, and we should not allow the devil to intimidate us. We also shouldn’t continue to beat ourselves up over a past mistake. After we repent of something, we should move forward. If people mock you…keep moving forward anyhow. If people try to discourage you…encourage yourself using scriptures. Don’t back down from what God has called you to do. Don’t allow another person to cause you to embrace a mindset of doubt or unbelief of God’s Word. It’s very important that we do not let the opinions of others hinder our walk with Christ. Remember what 1 Peter 2:9 says “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” – Luke 21:36

Our prayer life is extremely important. Prayer allows us to take our minds off of whatever situation we are going through, and communicate with God (putting our focus on Him). When we pray, we should not try to get God to conform to our will; instead, we should seek to conform to God’s will. God knows what’s best for us, so it’s important that we follow His plan.

So regardless of the situation you’re dealing with, remember that “the joy of the Lord is your strength” (see Nehemiah 8:10). Don’t allow fear or frustration to cause you to avoid the assignment God has given you. Stand strong my brothers and sisters. Stand on the Word of God.

“For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” - Hebrews 4:12
