Staying On The Path God Has You On

As we live our lives, it’s important that we are led by God and seek Him for wisdom when we’re making decisions. “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” – Romans 8:14. Today’s blog entry is titled “Staying On The Path God Has You On”…

Before I go any further, let me say that it’s good to be blogging again! The last time I blogged was in January of this year, and I plan on blogging each week on Tuesday’s again like I’ve done in the past. With that being said, I’d like to focus on the topic mentioned above.

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.” Psalm 37:23 (NKJV)

In the past, I’ve talked about how I ran Cross Country in High School. One of the things about Cross Country races is that they can vary from course to course. Some courses may present certain challenges that other courses don’t (for instance you may be running more “uphill” on certain courses). And as a runner it’s important to be prepared to run on uphill courses as well as courses that are more flat. If a race is scheduled for “Course A”, but an individual likes “Course B” better, they can’t just decide “well hey I don’t care if the race is scheduled for Course A, I’m running on Course B and they can record my time on that course and use it”. If a runner did this, they obviously would not get credit for the race.

In our walk with God, it’s important that we follow Him wherever He takes us. Sometimes we may encounter things that appear to be challenging, but it’s important for us to stay on the path that God has us on, as opposed to trying to take a different route and do what’s most comfortable to us. Sometimes the challenging things we encounter in life can be the very things that play a part in helping us grow and become stronger. Remember that God’s ways are higher than our ways (See Isaiah 55:9); He knows what’s best for us.

“The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him.” – Lamentations 3:25 (NKJV)

So as we continue to grow in our walk with Jesus Christ, let us make sure that we are seeking Him for guidance and direction in our lives. When we seek Him, we can avoid going through unnecessary things that were not a part of His plan for our lives.

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” – Hebrews 11:6 (NKJV)
