Test all Things

As Christians it’s important for us to be careful of what we involve ourselves with. “Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” – 1 Thessalonians 4:21-22 (NKJV). Today’s blog is titled “Test all Things.”

The decisions that we make now can have a huge impact on our lives at a later time, so it’s very important for us to be obedient to God. The Bible gives the guidelines on how we should live our lives, and if people are trying to get us to do things that don’t line up with the Word of God, that’s a red flag that we shouldn’t do it. It’s important that we don’t lose focus of our assignment as Christians (We should be glorifying God with our lives and making disciples). Sometimes the enemy may try to lure us into situations that God doesn’t want us to be a part of (this could include male/female relationships, business partnerships, and other collaborations/alliances).

“Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?” – Amos 3:3 (NKJV)

Think of it like this, if you are planning to open a bakery (and you’re looking for a business partner), and you want to run the business with Christian principles; it’s probably not a good idea to partner with someone who despises Christianity and goes on public rants where they bash Christianity (yet they can bake really good cakes). This isn’t to say that you can’t still witness to the person, but it’s important to use wisdom in how you involve yourself with that person. I also want to make it clear that I’m not saying that Christians can’t go into business with individuals who are non-Christian, but rather that it’s important that we look at the individual and what they stand for.

“Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.” – John 14:23 (NKJV)

Our relationship with Jesus Christ is extremely important, and our love for Him should cause us to want to live a lifestyle that is pleasing to Him. It’s important that we obey the Word of God regardless of how the world views us. And while there may be pressure from unbelievers to conform to certain things, it’s very important that we don’t compromise the truth of God’s Word. We should continue to stand firm on the Word, and rely upon God. We should value the way God’s views us much more than we value the way the World views us. So as we continue to grow in our walk with Jesus Christ, let us be mindful of the things that we align/involve ourselves with.

“Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” – 1 Corinthians 15:33 (NKJV)
