The Mentality Of A Servant

Have you found yourself in situations where you are doing things that you don’t necessarily want to do, but know you are suppose to do because of the call of God on your life?

“For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many.” - Mark 10:45

Jesus is the ultimate example of a servant. He willfully gave His life so that we could have eternal life. He endured a lot of suffering, however the end result was the tremendous gift of salvation for those who receive Him as Lord and Savior. Life is filled with many different processes. Never despise the preparation process that God is taking you through. It’s important that we look at the big picture, and not allow ourselves to lose focus if we experience challenging times. As we continue to grow in our Christian walk, we may be put in situations where we have to do things that we are uncomfortable doing or plain just don’t want to do. Instead of solely looking at what we can do to benefit ourselves, we should also look at things we can do to benefit others. Sometimes, being a listening ear, or setting aside time to mentor a young person can make a huge difference in an individual’s life.

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” – Luke 9:23

As born again believers, we are to always place God’s will above our own fleshly desires. There are many things that our flesh may desire to do that are totally contrary to the will of God. When we take on the mentality of a servant (desiring to obey and please God), we are in a position to carry out the assignments that God has for us.
