Treat Others The Right Way

“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” – Mark 12:30-31….It’s important that we genuinely love God. And it’s also important that we genuinely love others. Today’s blog entry is titled “Treat Others The Right Way."

Forgiveness, patience, and kindness, are among some of the attributes that a born again Christian should be showing forth (in regards to others). Throughout the course of our lives, we may come across people who are difficult to deal with, however we shouldn’t allow ourselves to act in a way that’s doesn’t please Jesus.

We all make mistakes, and yet sometimes, the mistakes that other people make may tend to “jump out” at us more than our own mistakes. It’s important to realize that different people grow and mature at different paces. It’s also important to realize that there are some people who haven’t been taught the same things that you have been taught (or been exposed to the same things that you have been exposed to). And don’t get me wrong, this isn’t to excuse people who make bad decisions, but rather to emphasize the importance of showing forth love to them.

“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” – 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

For some people (that you come across in life), you may be the closest thing to a church service that they have ever experienced. Our love for Jesus should motivate us to want to live a lifestyle that pleases Him, and loving others is a way that we please Jesus. As born again Christians, I think it’s very important to remember that Jesus forgave us of our sins, so we need to forgive others as well. Jesus shows forth kindness to us, so we should show forth kindness to others.

It’s also important that we share the truth with people. We should be sharing the gospel with unbelievers. We should also be helping our sisters and brothers in Christ grow in their Christian walk. If a situation arises for you to correct another person in regards to something they are doing wrong, remember to do it in a loving way. Don’t take it as an opportunity to embarrass them, but use it as an opportunity to steer them in the right direction. As we live our lives each day, let’s remember to treat others the right way.

“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.” – 1 John 4:7
