Vision

The new year is quickly approaching, and many of us have various things that we would like to get accomplished in 2012. It's important that we continue to be lead by God, and have a vision (an understanding of the steps we need to take to complete the tasks set before us). “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” - Proverbs 29:18. Today's blog entry deals with vision.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” - Joshua 1:8

When having a vision for our lives, it's important that we use the Bible as our guide. We should always remember that we are here on earth to carry out God's will. Meditating on the Word of God throughout the day (and night) helps to keep our focus on living a life that pleases God. Being obedient to God and having Godly character is a crucial part of the Christian walk. Regardless of how much success we attain, we should always remain humble. It's important to keep these things in mind because the enemy has various methods that he uses to try to get us off track. As it says in Ephesians 6:11, “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

“And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.” - Habakkuk 2:2

As we seek God regarding vision, and we feel that He is leading us in a certain direction, we should write it down, and write out the steps that it will take to get there. For example, if a person feels God has lead them to open a non-profit organization that will provide shelter to homeless people, there is a process they will need to go through. They would need: to have a certain amount money invested, to file certain paperwork, a building, a staff, a code of conduct for how things will operate at the shelter, etc. It's important that we don't overlook the practical things that need to be done for the vision that we have to become a reality. It's also a good idea to have a mentor, or someone that can provide guidance and give you good feedback on what you're doing. I would recommend seeking God and spending time in prayer about this as well because you do want to be careful about who you share certain information with, so definitely be lead by God with this.

Hard work and consistency is another important part of seeing the vision that we have become a reality. We need to put in the time and effort that it's going to take for us to meet our objectives. And we need to do it on a continual bases. If you come up against some challenges along the way, keep pushing through, don't give up. Be consistent, don't allow yourself to lose focus on the things that you are trying to get accomplished. Continue to seek God for wisdom and guidance.

So as we go into this new year, let us grow closer in our walk with Jesus Christ, and carry out the assignments He has given us.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” - Proverbs 3:5-6
