What's The Next Step?

Have you ever been at a point in your life where you wondered “What’s Next?" Throughout the course of our lives, we make a lot of different decisions, and it’s important for us to be led by God as we make those decisions. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way.” – Psalm 37:23 (NKJV). Today’s blog entry is titled “What’s The Next Step?"

Picture this, you will soon be graduating from college, and you have three different job offers on the table in three different states. All three states are far away from home (and you don’t know anyone who lives in those areas). The compensation packages at each job are similar.

Now picture the same scenario (you will soon be graduating from college). The difference in this scenario is that you haven’t received any job offers yet, and you’re really not sure of what do.

In both situations it’s important to seek God for guidance on what our next step should be. Sometimes when we have multiple options, we may not spend as much time as we should seeking God for which path we should take. And sometimes when it appears that we don’t have any options available, we can start to deal with thoughts of doubt and discouragement if we’re not careful. Regardless of how good or bad things seem to be going, remember to Trust Jesus, and rely upon Him.

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” – Romans 15:13

There are so many things that can distract us in the world today, so it’s important for us to keep our priorities in order. When we are asking God for clarity about a situation, we should put ourselves in a position to hear from God. Think of it like this, if you were expecting a very important phone call from someone at a certain time, you probably would try to make sure you were in an area where there wasn’t a lot of noise at that time, so that you would be able to hear what they are saying. Sometimes we need to remove ourselves from the “noise” in our lives so that we can hear from God, and follow His directions. Distractions may vary from person to person, but if we prayerfully examine our lives, we can identify the areas that we need to make changes in.

So when we’re trying to figure out the next step in our lives, it’s important to make sure that we’re spending time in prayer about the situation. It’s also important that we continually stay in the Word of God, and remove ourselves from situations that could distract us from hearing from God.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. – Psalm 119:105
