What to do, When you Don't Know What to do

Have you ever had those moments in life when you were not sure how to respond to a situation/issue you were dealing with?  “And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:13.  Today’s blog entry is titled “What to do, When you Don’t Know What to do”…

Have you ever heard of cramming??? You know, waiting until the “last minute” to study for a test (Yes, I’ve done this before haha).  And while a person may have some success doing this, we can probably agree that this isn’t the ideal way to study for a test. There may be various reasons why a person crams. Maybe their life is extremely busy, and they honestly only have a limited amount of time to study since they have work, school, a family etc. Or maybe they just don’t like studying, and so they put it off for as long as they possibly can. If a person continues to have success cramming, they may just make it a way of life. However if they have an experience when cramming doesn’t produce the type of results they want, they may start to rethink what they’re doing.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6

Sometimes in life we may have found ourselves in situations (that we didn’t like) because we didn’t seek God about the way we went about doing something. And maybe the negative results didn’t show up right away, but as time went on we could see that something wasn’t right (similar to the person who crammed on a regular basis and had success for a while, but later decided that there was a better way to do things). As Christians it’s important that we seek God on a regular basis (not only if we feel like we need a problem solved). When we seek God on a regular basis, He can give us the guidance that we need, and help us avoid mistakes that we otherwise would have made without Him. It’s kind of like a person who is about to go on a trip to a place they’ve never been before, and a relative (who knows the area very well) tries to give them instructions, however they ignore the instructions, and end up getting lost.

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” – Ephesians 6:13

So you may be thinking to yourself, I seek God on a regular basis, however I’m still at a point in my life where I’m unsure of what to do. With that being said, I want to make sure I’m clear on the fact that I’m not saying that a person who is unsure of what to do next is not already seeking God. Sometimes things may happen that God hasn’t given us the answers to yet. If we find ourselves in this situation, it’s important not to panic or become frustrated. We should however remain in faith, continue to spend time in the Word, and ask God for clarity on how to respond. We also should continue to give God praise, and remind ourselves that we serve a God who is bigger than any problem we will face. If we have done all of the previously mentioned things, and are still are unsure of what to do next, it may be a good idea to spend some time fasting. By denying ourselves food, and spending more time with God (away from things such as: the internet, TV, etc.), we can put ourselves in a position to me more receptive to God. The important thing is to be led by God throughout the entire process, whether you’re fasting or not.

So as we continue to grow in our walk with Jesus Christ, let us remember to continue to trust Him, and remain patient (even if we encounter times in our lives when we’re not sure what to do).

“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, For in YAH, the Lord, is everlasting strength.” – Isaiah 26:3-4 (NKJV)
