Will You Be Ready?

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.” Hebrews 9:27-28 …We will each stand before Christ one day and be judged. It’s important that we are ready…

Whether you are young, old or somewhere in between, you have probably known someone around your age that has died. Death can definitely be a difficult thing to deal with, and while I understand that it may not be the most exciting topic to talk about, it’s important for us to acknowledge that life on earth will one day end, and each person will either spend eternity with God or eternity the in Lake of Fire (see Revelation 20:14-15).

Sometimes it can be easy to get into a routine, and get caught up in the cares of this world (making money, being accepted by peers, having fun, etc). However, our first and most important priority should be to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and from there we should be making a constant effort to grow in our relationship with Him. We shouldn’t allow things such as being accepted by our peers to dominate the way we live our lives. We should be impacting the world positively, instead of allowing the world to impact us negatively. This is not to say that we should go around insulting people who are living a sinful lifestyle, however we should speak the truth in love, and be uncompromising when we do it.

“For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.” Mark 8:36-38

A born again Christian should love God more than anything else (including their own life). We should be obedient, and willing to follow Him regardless of the circumstances/consequences. Growing in our relationship with God is a process; we should be striving to be more like Jesus each and everyday. When we see areas of our lives that we need to do a better job in, we shouldn’t be discouraged, but we should ask God to help us overcome the issues that we are dealing with.

Philippians 1:21 reads as follows “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” For a born again believer, living should consist of serving God. We should love Christ with all of our heart and obey Him. Regardless of how bad the world gets, a born again Christian can take comfort in the fact of knowing that they will be with Jesus Christ after their death.

The question is are you ready? If you have not received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, I admonish you to do so today. If you’re already saved, continue to live for Christ, and spread the good news!

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” – 2 Peter 3:9
