Bio

BOLD, EXPRESSIVE, and CREATIVE, are just a few words that describe the music of Ja’ Van Johnson, a passionate voice lifting up the name of Jesus Christ. Ja’ Van’s parents instilled strong Christian values in him while he was growing up, and around the age of 8 he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He knew at an early age that he wanted to pursue the things of God, and he maintained a relationship with Jesus throughout his childhood years into the present day. By the time Ja’ Van was 16, he developed a strong desire to rap and make beats. He began to pursue this desire by composing his own rap songs, and learning how to play the keyboard, bringing to life the musical melodies that he heard in his head.

Ja’ Van graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelors Degree in Entrepreneurship. While in college he was very active in music and ministry. He was the President of an on campus Christian organization called Victorious Student Outreach. During his term as President he helped lead various programs that spread the message of Jesus Christ across the campus. It was also during his college years that Johnson put more time into developing his songwriting and music producing. He took part in various events that allowed him to minister through music to the students on campus. In the spring of 2005, Johnson founded Worldwide Dominion Productions, LLC (a Christian Production Company), and began working on launching the company, writing, producing, and developing new material. He also appeared in the June 2005 issue of Entrepreneur Magazine for a Minority Entrepreneurship project that he helped spearhead while in college. Over the next several months he met 3 other Christian rappers, and they later would collaborate as a Christian rap group called Worldwide Dominion. Worldwide Dominion's debut CD "The Way, The Truth, The Life" was executive produced by Johnson and released in late August 2006.

Ja’ Van’s debut solo album entitled “Eternal Example” (released digitally in September 2009, and via CD in April 2010) chronicled his walk with Jesus Christ and his journey as a lyricist. Eternal Example is a 15-track collection of songs ranging from some of his early work to more recently written material.

In April 2011, Ja' Van released his second solo album entitled "Signs and Wonders". On this intense 15-track album, Ja' Van goes into a deeper explanation of Jesus Christ, and also deals with Christian growth and Christian living. Signs and Wonders is an album with passionate vocals, descriptive lyrics, and a unique blend of sounds.

On May 3, 2012, Ja' Van debuted his web show "About 10 Minutes". On this weekly show, Ja' Van does a variety of things which include: interviews, comedy, competitions, and speaking about various topics dealing with Christian living.

Ja' Van's third solo album "Everlasting Life" was released in July 2012. On this 15-track album, Johnson continues to exalt and proclaim the name of Jesus Christ. Ja’ Van also talks about a variety of issues that many Christians may face while growing in their walk with Jesus. The music production on Everlasting Life blends a number of different styles including soulful sounding tracks, high energy drum tracks with melodic synthesizer sounds, and more.

Ja’ Van’s lyrics are insightful and thought provoking. He uses many different song techniques (even some humor on the Signs and Wonders track "Game Show") to get the Christian message (in which he firmly believes) across. Whether it’s in story form, dealing with life experiences, or speaking about the current events of society as a whole; Ja’ Van aims to glorify God, capture your attention, and lyrically illustrate how biblical principles are to be applied in the world today. His song's have been included on Television shows (TLC Network, Tr3s Network)

Ja' Van was also licensed as a Minister in January 2007, and ordained as an Elder in December 2010.

Ja' Van married his beautiful wife LaRissa on May 5th, 2018 at Divine Grace Ministries Church in Michigan. In 2021, LaRissa gave birth to their first child. In 2024, LaRissa gave birth to their second child.
