Are you prepared to enter Eternity?

For many people, being a Christian is something they feel they have inherited as a result of family tradition, going to church each Sunday, or because they believe that Jesus Christ exists. However salvation, and the reason it’s needed is much deeper. God almighty, the Father of humanity is holy, and in the book of Exodus we find that He gave 10 commandments as the law that His people were to live by. The 10 commandments are listed below, have you broken any of them?

1. Ye shall have no other gods before me
2. You shall not make yourself any graven image
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain
4. Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy
5. Honor your father, and your mother
6. You shall not kill.
7. You shall not commit adultery
8. You shall not steal
9. You shall not lie.
10.You shall not covet.

So how’d you do? If you’ve broken any of these commandments God takes this as a serious offense, with Hell being the deserving punishment (As it says in Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;") However when Jesus Christ died, He conquered death. He is able to forgive those who sincerely receive Him as Lord and Savior, turning away from their sins. In today’s society many people accept Jesus as their Savior, (meaning they believe that he died on the cross for their sins) but do not genuinely accept him as Lord. Those who refuse to give up the sinful things that bring them pleasure are an example of this. For Jesus to truly be the Lord of a person’s life, they must repent of their sin (which means to turn away from the sin, and stop committing it). Simply asking for forgiveness or admitting guilt is not enough, the same way admitting guilt would not be enough to get a person who committed a serious crime off the hook in a court of law. These are some serious points to consider when determining how close you really are to God. If you feel that you are not in right standing with God, I encourage you to confess and repent of your sins, and put your trust in Jesus Christ, confessing and believing that He died on the cross for your sins, and rose from the dead (See Roman’s 10:9). God Bless.
