My Help Comes From The Lord

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.” - Psalm 121:1-2 (NKJV). Today’s blog entry is titled “My Help Comes From The Lord”…

Picture this, a very good friend of yours tells you he is about to start a new business. He is visibly excited, so you start to ask him questions to find out more about his new endeavor. He begins to share more information about it, letting you know he will be starting a snow plowing business. He tells you how he has invested thousands of dollars into plowing equipment so that he will be able to have several vehicles on the road at once and cover multiple cities in your area. At this point, you start wondering where the business will be based out of because you and your friend both live in a warm climate area that doesn’t get snow. So you ask your friend, and he tells you he’s going to service your local area. At this point you bring up the fact that your area doesn’t get snow, and your friend responds by saying, “Wow, I didn’t think about that, I just thought it would really be cool to start a snow plowing business.”

Now that may have been an extreme example, but if we’re not careful, we can make the same type of mistake(s) when we don’t seek God. We can start pursuing something because we like the idea, and yet go about it the wrong way. When we spend time with God on a regular basis we can get the proper guidance and direction we need in order to make the right decisions. And don’t get me wrong, we shouldn’t just spend time with God to try to get questions answered; we should spend time with Him because we love Him, and want to continue to grow in our relationship with Him. With that being said, one of the byproducts of us spending more time with Him is that we receive guidance, and make decisions that are in His will. It’s good for us to use the ideas/gifts that God has given us, but it’s important that we use them the way that He intends. Worship is a lifestyle, and it’s important for us to worship God each and every day.

”God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” – John 4:24

So as we continue to grow in our walk with Jesus Christ, let us remember that He is here for us, and that we should seek Him for wisdom.

“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:6-7
