Our lives can be filled with a number of activities/responsibilities including: Spending time with family/friends, ministry, school, work, etc. And while there’s definitely a place for these types of activities, it’s important that we also spend time quality time with God. Our love for Him should cause us to want to spend time with Him. It’s important that we don’t lose sight of the importance of our relationship with Jesus Christ. If a person is not careful, they can develop a ritual of praying and reading the Bible simply so they can check it off their list of things to do and quickly move on to something else. But God sees our hearts, He understands our motives, and we should have a genuine desire to grow in our relationship with Him.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” – Revelation 3:20
Picture a relationship with a Husband and Wife… If a Husband and Wife go out to a restaurant for a date and then 5 minutes after they sit down the Husband gets up and says to the Wife, “Well I took you out on a date, I got to go now” and then walks out and leaves. Or if the Wife gets up after 5 minutes and “says thanks for taking me out, I’ll see you later”…A person watching from the outside looking in would probably be wondering what was going on. The couple should want to spend time with each other because they love each other.
In our walk with Jesus Christ, it’s important that we make the most of every moment that we spend with Him. So as we continue to grow in our Christian Walk, let us make sure that we are giving God our best.
“I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” - John 15:5
