“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” – Isaiah 41:10. Today’s blog entry is titled “Stand Firm, Do Not Be Afraid”…
Can you think back to a time in the past when you were afraid of something (or afraid to do something) at first, but as time went on you found out things went a whole lot better than you thought they would? Maybe it was in school when you had a big test coming up…Or maybe it was before an interview for a job you really wanted…Or maybe it was before you had to give a speech in front of a room full of people. After the fact, you may have thought something such as “That wasn’t bad at all.” If the issue of fear is not overcome/dealt with, it can lead to a lot of missed opportunities. However, when fear is overcome, a person can make a lot of progress in life; and accomplish the things that God has called them to do.
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” - 2 Timothy 1:7
As Christians, it’s important to realize that God doesn’t want us to be afraid. A person can start to become afraid when they focus on their own weaknesses instead of focusing on God and His strength. People can start to create scenarios in their minds of the things that could go wrong, which could lead to them not moving forward at all. However, when we focus on how awesome God is, and put our trust in Him, we can take comfort in the fact that He will never leave us nor forsake us (See Deuteronomy 31:6). So it’s important for us to walk by faith and trust God regardless of how the circumstances look.
