Are you where God wants you to be?

“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.” - Psalm 37:23 (NKJV). Today’s blog entry is titled, “Are you where God wants you to be?”…

On this past week’s episode (126) of my web show “About 10 Minutes”, I talked about the importance of having balance in our lives. While we each may have various responsibilities, it’s important that we keep Christ first, and use our time wisely. When we spend time with  God, we can receive guidance and  direction, and accomplish the things that He has called us to do. With that being said, have you taken time to seek God about what He’s called you to do (And how He wants you to do it)? Sometimes it can be easy to follow what our flesh wants to do, instead of taking the time to inquire of the Lord.
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” – Galatians 5:16 (NKJV)

As humans, it can be very easy for us to try to take control and do things our way, but it’s important to remember that God knows what’s best for us, and we should trust and obey Him. We live in a society where there are many people who care more about what other people think of them than they care about what God thinks of them. However, it’s what God thinks that really counts. Picture this; an individual has an interview for a job that he really wants to get. The day of the interview, he prints off a lot of copies of his resume and talks to people all around town about his credentials for the job, handing them copies of his resume. He is so preoccupied with doing this that he ends up being late for his interview, and on top of that, when he gets to the interview he only stays for about  2-3 minutes and then goes back outside and hands out more copies of his resume to various people (who have nothing to do with the hiring process). On the outside looking in, that doesn’t make a whole lot of since. The person conducting the interview is the opinion that really counts. The other people are in no way involved in the hiring process. Likewise there are people who bypass their time with God in order to try to impress other people, but God should always be the priority. Sometimes we may need to unplug from other things for a period of time in order to regain our focus.
So as we continue to grow in our walk with Christ, it’s important to make sure that we are being led by the Holy Spirit and not our flesh. One day we will each have to give an account to God for the way that we lived our lives, so it’s important to spend time with Him on a regular basis and take the path that He desires for us to take.
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” – Romans 8:14 (NKJV)
