Got to do Better

“Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths.  Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.” -  Psalm 25:4-5 (NKJV) Today’s blog entry is titled “Got to do Better”…

Can you think of a time in your life when you’ve thought to yourself “I’ve got to do better”? For instance, maybe you’ve found yourself eating a lot of junk food, and you really want to start eating healthy. Or maybe you’ve found yourself waiting to the last minute to study for exams, and you really want to start studying much earlier in the future. If we examine our lives, there may be various areas that we want to do better in; including growing in our understanding of the Bible, growing in our ability to show forth love to others, etc. It’s important to remember that God can help us in these various areas, so we should seek Him for wisdom and guidance, and spend time in the Word as well.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105 (NKJV)

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” – James 1:5 (NKJV)

When we read the Bible and do what it says, we can accomplish the things that God has called us to do, and make a lot of progress in our lives. The important thing is to apply what we read to our lives on a consistent basis. When we are consistent, we can develop good habits, and continue to make progress in the right direction. Distractions can come in a lot of ways, so it’s important that we stay focused on Jesus Christ, and give the best effort that we can on every assignment that He gives us.

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” - 2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV)
